Me and my websites

pt23

This website is an off-shoot of website-academy.com the main portal for all of my personal websites and my website construction business.

I’ve been working in radio with the BBC since 1991*, as a journalist, producer and presenter, but the job started to evolve in 2001 when we began work on the BBC Cumbria website, which I’ve run with a small team since it was launched.

In 2006 I travelled to New York with a BBC colleague to collect a Webby Award for our Digital Lives work in the Community section - view screen grab.

We’d done a lot of work with local communities encouraging local people to tell their personal stories throughWebby Award 2006 logo audio, video and pictures and brought it all together in one section.

Having become immersed in the world of the web at work, it became a huge interest at home.

I’ve moved from basic Dreamweaver and Photoshop sites to using PHP to develop more complex database driven websites.

I received a Distinction in the Level 3 ‘Diploma in Web Design’ from the The Association of Certified IT Professionals in 2005, and have since been working on a number of my own projects:

big-group-cottages.co.uk expatchat.co.uk webcumbria.co.uk

doorstep-delivery.co.uk your-local-shop.co.uk 80spoplover.co.uk

castle-visits.co.uk scrap-yard.co.uk trips4kids.com

weirdbits.co.uk

I also produce websites for other people:

thememoryknotcompany.co.uk megacalltelecom.co.uk

communicatetutoring.co.uk the-granary-thurstonfield.co.uk

The BBC Cumbria team at the Webbys in 2006Now I’m working on and launching my own series of websites, you can follow the entire process through from construction, problem solving, marketing and launching … and hopefully pick up some tips with me along the way.

I hope you enjoy the blog and find lots of useful stuff in it and I’d love it if you contributed, passed it on and shared your own knowledge and experience.
